Today is a special day for us. Quad Universe has just become the first company awarded with the “S for Sustainability” in Oropesa del Mar and the first active tourism company in the province of Castellón to hold this distinction.
Our active tourism company, specializing since 2015 in guided quad tours, is proud to have the recognition through ICTE of our dedication to innovation and excellence in environmental, social, and economic management. This has been in our DNA since the beginning of this beautiful adventure, and it is a great pleasure to be an inspiration for other municipalities and colleagues in the sector.
Betting on innovation, digitalization, and quality is not new for us. Quad Universe has held the prestigious quality distinction “SICTED, commitment to quality tourism” since 2017, renewed annually since then.
What does the “S for Sustainability” certification from ICTE recognize?
This distinction, framed within the United Nations 2030 agenda program, highlights our commitment to the efficient use of natural resources, minimizing negative impacts on the environment, continuous work to raise awareness of local environmental issues, efforts to improve local quality of life, the protection of cultural heritage, and of course, the satisfaction of our customers.
Since our opening in 2015, driven by the passion for sports and nature of our owner, Fran González, we have been recognized as pioneers in quality and innovation in Oropesa del Mar. Since then, we have been the only company in the province of Castellón specialized in guided quad tours.
Every year we introduce local, national, and international visitors to the most spectacular landscapes of the region, in a fun and safe way, on circuits prepared for all audiences.
We are committed to a unique and responsible experience that contributes to local development and adds tourist value to our local natural resources.
What have we worked on this year?
This year we have addressed several important themes for us.
Environment
We have renewed our commitment to the 1+1 program to offset our carbon emissions. Being the first active tourism company in the province of Castellón to do so. Moreover, we have offset double the emissions through Reforest’action, which has allowed us to plant 38 fruit trees in the area of Pankshin (Nigeria).
At the same time, we raise awareness through social media and conversations with clients during our activities about the issues of pollution and the conservation of our forest ecosystems.
Finally, we have made internal changes in our activities that have allowed us to reduce plastic use by 5 kg. How have we done this? We have stopped giving away water bottles to our clients, replacing this gesture of hospitality with the provision of a water fountain (for free) with a returnable container.
Social and local economic sustainability
For several years, we have taken special care to be an inclusive activity. We genuinely believe that motor activities are not restricted to young men, and we direct our communication to all audiences to combat this stereotype. In fact, a key point of our communication is to reserve a place of honor for our female visitors, facilitating the projection of this group in motor activities.
We have developed partnerships with other local companies to highlight and give visibility to local gastronomy and products.
Digitalization
Another action we have developed this year is the digitalization of all our booking and contract processes for our activity. This digitalization allows for greater efficiency in preparing our activity and makes it easy to translate our materials for our foreign audience (French, English). This change has allowed us to save 5 kg of paper this year.
For the remaining advertising materials (brochures, posters, cards), we have opted to print them on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper and with eco-friendly ink.
We are very pleased with this certification and want to thank the thousands of people who have participated in an activity with us over these nearly 9 years, betting on quality active tourism. We advocate for active tourism and Oropesa del Mar to become an example of de-seasonalization. We believe this is the ideal way to energize our municipality and the province of Castellón with new visitor profiles.
